"My Hepatologist went above and beyond in his care"

My Hepatologist went above and beyond in his care and I managed to have my miracle baby.

Over the last 5 years I have unfortunately had 6 miscarriages, and after being passed around various different fertility and gynaecologists I was getting nowhere. Every one of my doctors were coming up with blanks as to why I kept losing my babies and I was at the point of giving up. I already had been diagnosed with a rare autoimmune liver disease prior to these losses and after begging my GP, he referred me to Dr Williams Hepatologist in Edinburgh Royal Infirmary for a second opinion.

As well as discovering I had a second autoimmune liver disease, Dr Williams went above and beyond helping me to figure out that autoimmune disease kept flaring in pregnancy and was causing my losses. He was in constant contact in adjusting my medication and tracking my blood tests even though I can imagine he is extremely busy with transplants and many other hepatology patients. 

I finally had my little miracle baby in June 2021 and I truly believe we would never have gotten here without Dr Williams, especially when the baby side of things isn't even his speciality. 

I'm very lucky to have such a great consultant on my side. 

I just wish other ladies going through the same thing was as lucky as me.
