"Excellent service from Fell Cottage"

On Tuesday 25th May I contacted the surgery to say my father was unwell and I felt he needed assessing urgently. I was reassured by a receptionist that she would pass the message on, but also that she would call me back and let me know what was happening. I was called back within 30 minutes to let me know the oncall GP would be in touch and she was. All three of these calls took place within one our. I know the pressures primary care is under and how busy things are, so this level of service was really commendable.

The receptionists manner was pleasant and reassuring and she went above and beyond to get me in touch with a GP and sort out my problem. Many, many thanks.

I was then phoned by the GP who listened carefully to my concerns and offered to see my dad in the surgery straight away. She then did a thorough assessment and arranged for him to be seen in the hospital immediately. I think her prompt actions probably saved his life as he was in heart failure with a critical (not previously diagnosed) aortic stenosis. He tells me how lovely your manner was and how well you listened to him - so thank you for that too.

I have a friend who works at the QE who told me later 'it took the hospital 27 hours and several tests to come to the same conclusion the GP had written in her letter.' which says a lot for your clinical and diagnosis skills.

Dad is now in the Freeman and feeling much better, but waiting for an aortic valve replacement, so has to stay there until its done.

Many thanks to you both and your colleagues for all of your hard work, but particularly in this case.
