"Experience at A&E"

About: University Hospital Monklands / Emergency Department

(as a service user),

I visited Monklands hospital in 2019 as my son with severe learning difficulties and behaviour, had hit me. I had to take my youngest son who too has the same genetic condition.

When the dr got to see me, my youngest became very distressed. It took 4 people to restrain him. Before I knew what was happening he was moved to resus and was sedated. When we were moved out to a cubicle my eldest son punched the window smashing it.

1. I had no one to help me look after both boys to allow me to attend a and e.

2. I am not happy with the way they treated us. Because it seemed that the easier way was to sedate my son.
