I have been recenty diagnosed with Cancer, Mantel Cell Lymphoma (Blood Cancer). This diagnosis was a very big shock to me as I felt well, it meant that I had to have a PICC line inserted and that I had to have it dressed once a week, I also had to have my blood taken twice a week with the district nursing team. This is the first contact I have had with the team and I can say that the service they offered has been exceptional. they have been very professional and their knowledge and expertise have been brilliant. Due to the treatment of Chemotherapy my bowel froze which resulted in the fitting of a Stoma bag this also brought me in contact with the district stoma nurse whose knowledge and expertise have been second to none, she has been a great help to me.
My treatment also involves a lot of time spent in the Cancer Centre at Altnagelvin, Haematology Department, I spent a lot of time in Ward 50, and the Sperrin Suite and in the general clinics, the staff, Nurses, Doctors and Consultants are delivering an exceptional service on a daily basis I have seen this first hand, I feel so well looked after and trust their care, their knowledge, opinions, advice and support completely.
It is great that you meet the same staff on a regular basis I am on first name terms with most of the staff which means that there is a strong relationships being built this helps very much with my care as I feel comfortable to discuss any health problems or issues I may have.
"Exceptional service on a daily basis"
