I have been working with Deborah for some time, in mental health for a lot longer. Fair to say I did not give her the easiest time. She however understood with empathy I have rarely felt. My journey was difficult as I could not see a way out of my dark feelings. Deborah's persistence and going above and beyond made me realise that work would be my ticket out of it.
I have never had anyone believe in me, family, teachers or friends, I always seemed to be last in the pecking order, but Deborah made me feel very special and would be very creative in her approach. We did an exercise I think which was called joari window. This made me look at my self as a person with albeit then small dreams.
Due to Deborah's belief in me I started with a small job, only a few hours then she identified my caring nature, which I never considered, and now I am working with a company doing 1-1 care work and due to be promoted. I now thank her for sticking with me even when I was very difficult. She told me that just because I had not found my purpose...did not mean I did not have one.
I have now found it and my recovery is now on track and will be forever grateful.
