"Long waiting times"

About: Medway Maritime Hospital

Took my child there and the waiting times is like 4hours plus. They should make the patient aware of what the waiting times are. In this case I was not told and had to wait in a room with no windows on an extremely hot day. It was really warm that day and being the childrens a&e at least they could have cooled the place. It was soo uncomfortable sitting in that waiting room and my child was unsettled throughout. I only found out how long I’ve got to wait after enquiring from the desk. Please children a&e work on your communication with patients and please keep the waiting room cool it’s very uncomfortable to be sitting there for 4 hours plus in this hot weather.

We are very sorry that you waited longer than we would like when you attended the children's emergency department with your child recently.

We have brought your comments about the waiting room temperature to the attention of the senior management team for Urgent and Emergency Care in addition to the communication about waiting times.

We hope your child is now recovering from this episode of ill health and extend to you both our best wishes.

Kindest regards,

The Patient Experience Team
