"Martenity day assessment unit "

About: Queen Elizabeth Hospital (London)

I am a 33weeks pregnant woman, and It really bothers me that this are the people who will help me with my babies birth when my baby is due.

Each time I go for an assessment at the martemity day assessment unit and I am asking for some help , the midwifes don't bother to talk or ask.if they could help me. They all look at me.like I am there for a fashion show or wasting there time.

I am a health worker and to be honest I treat my patients with integrity and at work to help them recover and be able to get discharged effectively and smoothly.

However having to come to this hospital, I get so upset and in awe when I get the same reaction over and over again.

I would understand if its a one off , I would say they are busy , but they are all just sitting on the front desk and looking at each other like well..

It is truly not acceptable as a health care worker , and women should be able to feel they are in good hands and have midwives who care. If they are tired and really do not want to work then ask for leave or break.

But it gets tiring and stressful having to deal with this all the time.

To whom it may concern

My name is Pauline Okhamesan, I am the Day assessment lead midwife. I have taken your complaints on board and would raise this with the rest of the team.

I am sorry to read that you felt ignored and the staff's treated you in an unprofessional manner.

Our role as DAU staffs is to welcome patients and respond to their concerns accordingly, if we have failed to do so; I sincerely apologies for this.

I do go round to the women in the waiting area to reassure them if we are running late with appointments and this also gives me the opportunity to answer any concerns as well.

I would however like the opportunity to address your concerns further, could you please provide me with some more information about yourself.

We would like to address your other comments but do need a little more information so could you please contact our Patient Advice & Liaison Service (PALS), they can then take this up with the department on your behalf. PALS can be contacted via email on pals.qeht@nhs.net or phone 020 8836 4592.
