"Lack of service and attention, avoid. "

About: Essex Lodge

Even before covid the awaiting time for an appointment was around a month. They stopped accepting urgent appointments so people had to deal on their own or wait ages to be seen. 8 out of 10 times when you manage to get one, the answer will be vitamin C and paracetamol. On multiple occasions I have been prescribed antibiotics over the phone which is not advisable without examination. Earlier this year I had a severe case of tonsillitis, after 2 courses of antibiotics (prescribed on the phone) I was finally advised to just wait and gargle with salt water. I ended up in UTC on IV because I couldn't even drink water for days. One of my tonsils needed to be drained. To be honest I am constantly scared something bad not to happen to me as I don't trust this practice. I have been using mostly the online form they provide on their website and app. Supposedly a GP should contact you in 48h after submitting it. It is now days until you get a call. I have submitted a query on Thursday last week and got a call on Wednesday next.. I missed the call because I am also working. Trying to stay glued to your phone for a week can't be something a person should be required to do... No return line with the GP so I had to call a reception to ask if I can receive another call. Waited 15 mins (you are most often between 3rd and 5th person on the queue).. After finally managing to get through I was told they will leave a note for the doctor to call me now. 2 mins later I receive an SMS that the doctor has left for the day and will call me tomorrow. Yet I have few time slots I can take away from work so again calling the reception to kindly ask them to leave a note so she can call me between certain times. The mental toll this takes on a patient is insane. We deserve a proper care. If the clinic is understaffed why they kept taking new patients.. It's been appalling for years and honestly scary. There are some nice doctors there who show real interest in peoples health and the covid vaccination system was properly arranged but that's about it. If you can avoid!
