My husband was taken to A&E whilst we were on holiday in May this year on our first night. He had tripped and smashed his nose and it was difficult to stop the bleeding, especially as he is on blood thinners. First of all, the paramedics were brilliant with him as he suffers from Alzheimers, heart failure and mobility problems. Due to an erratic ECG it was decided to take him to A&E. The staff were wonderful, took CT which showed a broken nose and the doctor also asked questions about other things which showed up. I was able to explain that these were older matters and he was under local hospitals where we live for these issues. All staff were very good at listening and communicating with us which helped a great deal. They kept an eye on his irregular heartbeat but it eventually settled. He was kept in for the night and moved to a short stay ward for observation. He was allowed out the next afternoon and we continued our holiday. Throughout, he was looked after exceptionally well and actually said it was the best hospital he had been to.
