Admitted through A&E, AMU then Cardiac, I was looked after with unswerving kindness, expertise and cheerfulness throughout. Every staff member worked as part of a team with the common goal of patient welfare, from the cleaners, volunteers, night-nurses, all grades of hard-working nurses and ward sisters, to the student nurses, phlebotomists, technicians, pharmacists, lab staff and doctors, in addition to the theatre team. (Yes, that many people over 6 days!) That all nurses appeared informed throughout on each patient’s evolving condition, I am certain, contributed to an efficient and effective daily operation. Every member of staff on the wards, in theatre and in A&E wore masks, so that patients did not have to. I honour those who uncomplainingly go about a whole day’s -or night’s - often demanding work wearing a mask - THANK-YOU: you are amazing. I could not have asked for better care.
