I was really nervous about going to the clinic, I was advised to by my GP as they had done a batch of tests but wasn't sure of the lumps/ulcers appearing.
I had no doubt that it wasn't anything STI related but was worrying over cancer as we all tend to do when we see a lump, especially if family members have had cancer.
I was also jittery as when I went to an SH clinic in another area previously, it was an horrendous experience. I had a Dr examining me and just put his fingers in me without asking or explaining what he was going to do and the nurses were so rude making me feel "dirty" or like an irresponsible teenager and then they sent confidential information to another address and that person opened it and knew me!
However, the staff were fantastic at this clinic, I wanted to tell them as I left but didn't have the time. From the triage phone call to reception staff to the nurse and doctor I saw; treated me with the most respect and dignity. They explained everything and were down to earth. Luckily it wasn't anything untoward at all just skin issues. I was given creams and some advice. All staff stayed professional and maintained confidentiality. I wouldn't be so nervous if I ever had to go again.
The only downside for me was that it's on the second floor and Im terrified of lifts having been stuck in them 3 times! But I used the stairs very slowly as I have lots of health issues, especially with mobility. But I made it there. The location itself is accessible and in the centre so easy for all to attend I'd imagine.
