"Medical care"

About: St John's Hospital / General Medicine

(as the patient),

Transferred between 6 wards in two weeks left me feeling isolated. Witnessed a screaming match by 3 members of staff and 1 patient when she tried to explain something was wrong. Had a lady with dementia who was profoundly deaf. Staff kept shouting instructions to her even though they knew she couldn’t hear them this often went on till 1am. Witnessed a night nurse leave a patient very clearly distress and in pain for almost an hour before acting while she   folded plastic bags and tied aprons to a laundry trolley. When I commented I was told she had 32 patients to look after. I was treated like a leper by staff all night even down to waiting 40-45min for breakthrough medicine. These are only few of the things I witnessed in my time

Mary I am very disappointed and sorry to read your comments and would ask that if able could you make contact with myself at St Johns Hospital [01506 523000] to discuss the concerns you have raised further so that I can investigate fully. What you have described are not the experience that I would expect or want any patient to have whilst as an in patient at St Johns Hospital.
