"I am very grateful"

About: Aberdeen Royal Infirmary / Acute Medical Initial Assessment Aberdeen Royal Infirmary / Renal Medicine (Kidney) Aberdeen Royal Infirmary / Respiratory Medicine (Breathing and Lung Problems) NHS 24

(as a service user),

I was admitted to ARI in March after assessment by NHS 24 due to breathing difficulties that had been going on for 7 days. Initially I was admitted to ward 101 for tests including a CT scan and chest x-ray which discovered I had clots on my lungs. I was then transferred to ward 107 for treatment and care where I then developed MSSA blood infection through my IV. After 8 days in ward 107 I was transferred to the infection ward, ward 108 for treatment for my blood infection then discharged about a week later. I’d like to thank all the staff on each of these wards for their fantastic care and getting me well again. Every person I encountered from nursing staff, doctors, domestics, ward receptionists and porters were absolutely amazing and I am very grateful to them for their care.

Hello Mercurykz58,

Thank you for very kind words about the care and treatment you had whilst in ARI. It sounds like you suffered terribly with your health and I am glad that you are now home and hopefully feeling better.

As the Nurse Manager of W108, I will personally share your message with the 108 team and I will also share your feedback with the other teams you have mentioned. I know your kind words will be gratefully appreciated by them all.

Take care and thank you again, Lesley.

Dear mercurykz58

I'm sorry to learn your required to be admitted to hospital which I'm sure will have been a worrying time for you and for your family. I hope you are recovering well and going from strength to strength.

It's very kind of you to take the time to thank the staff who cared for you. They clearly left a very positive impression on you which is great to see. I am sure the staff within the ARI will be delighted to see your feedback.

I see you initially contacted NHS 24 who assessed your symptoms. It would be good to hear more from you on how you felt your call to NHS 24 was managed. We love to hear from people who use our services, so if you care to get in touch I would delighted to hear from you. You can contact me at patient.experience@nhs24.scot.nhs.uk or by telephone on 07814 299944.

In the meantime, I wish you all the best.

Take care

Shona
