"Experience on ACUC"

About: Cheltenham General Hospital / Accident and emergency Cheltenham General Hospital / General medicine

(as the patient),

I was admitted with a kidney infection and I have Addison’s disease. In the early morning I started to feel very unwell and started vomiting. I told the doctor I needed iv hydrocortisone as I could not keep down my steroids and I was starting to feel very faint and unwell. The doctor told me I was wasting their time and that they had patients that were actually unwell to see in A+ E and left. About 45 mins later I called a nurse as I was constantly heaving and felt like I was going to pass out. Shortly afterwards I went unconscious and woke up after the nurse had given me IV hydrocortisone. I felt very unwell and was unable to get out of bed for 2 days after this incident. This has now made me feel scared to go into hospital again and I don’t trust doctors that I don’t know.
