(as a relative),

In April my mum was admitted to mater hospital ward c with a chest infection. The consultant updated us on a regular basis  & whilst she was there a girl from the patient experience initiative sat with her and had a chat and was willing to get her anything she needed. The nursing staff  where fantastic, when mum took a turn for the worse and deteriorated they allowed my sister and I  to take turns to go in and see her. Sadly our my passed away but due to the compassion of the ward staff my sister & I were with her at the end , I can honestly say our mum got the best care possible and was shown  dignity & respect at all times.

My sister and I are so grateful we were able to be with our mum at the end when so many people did not get to be with there loved ones this past year

Daughter of Mum. Thank you for telling us about your experiences in ward C in the Mater Hospital.

Please can I pass on to you and your sister my sincere and deepest sympathy on the death of your dear Mum. It warms my heart that you had a very good experience with us at the time of her death and that she was so well cared for at a time so precious to you both. Just being on the ward close by to your Mum can be so comforting and brings strength at such a sad time.

I am just delighted the Staff, both Nursing and Medical have delivered a very caring and compassionate service to you all as a family. We at the Mater thank you for your kind words and we hope you both continue to get strength from knowing her death was indeed peaceful and respectful.
