"Covid vaccine center"

About: Cardiff & Vale University Health Board

(as a service user),

My partner and I recently went to splott immunisation center to get the covid vaccine. We queued for 15 minutes and got to the front and the person on the door told me I couldn't enter as I was mask exempt.

They tried to get me to wear a visor but I explained I couldn't because of my exemption. This didn't help my anxiety which is why I'm exempt and why my partner was with me and I think this should be stated on the invitation. They sent us round the back to go in as they said I couldn't be near people. The nurses and man on the back door were lovely saying it's okay. Idk what the policy is but next time we should be told beforehand to avoid more anxiety and to avoid confusion. Not so impressed

Thank you for sharing your story. I am so sorry to read about your experience and I appreciate this must have heightened your anxiety at such a worrying time.

I do hope that you had your vaccinations if you did not please contact me via pe@wales.nhs.uk and I will make the arrangements

I meet with the senior vaccination team and I will share your story and discuss what we can do to improve the experience for those who are medically exempt from wearing masks.

Kind regards

Angela
