"What a great team and brilliant care"

About: Sunderland Royal Hospital

I have recently had surgery to remove a wisdom tooth root . From the time I arrived at Day Surgery reception until my discharge I recieved absolutely brilliant care and attention , very efficient , professional and kind. I was there promptly for my admittance time and a nurse was down within minutes to take myself and others to the surgery areas . This nurse and all other nurses and theatre staff all introduced themselves when they first met me.When on the pre-op ward I was " checked - in "with all my vitals , weight, height etc being done , measured for the correct pressure stockings and given gowns ,throughout the nursing staff were lovely - polite , happy to chat , asking / answering questions. 2 from the theatre team came and explained how the anisthetic would work and the procedure .When I was taken to the theatre it felt very comforting/ reassuring that I`d already met most of the staff who would be looking after me in there. I had opted for sedation and local anisthetic , so I`d be awake during it. I had noted on the clock when I went in -about 2.05pm .I was listening to the chat of the team and aware of some activity in my mouth .The next thing I knew I was being told they`d finished ! When I was leaving the theatre I saw a clock showing just before 2.45pm . Blimey ! Great ! One of the theare team had said the procedure should last approx 40 mins . True to their word ! Straight through the doors into the post op suite where I had my very own nurse monitoring how I was . I was awake throughout and we chatted . Again a lovely , kind member of the nursing team . He would be the one who took me through to the pre-op/ post op ward . He handed me over to his colleague who again was very kindly and attentive. Observation and preparation for home was next. part of this time was the nurse giving me hospital info. regarding post op instructions for going home .A nurse came for me and escorted me down to the reception area again so I could be discharged. In all I have nothing but praise for each and every member of staff who looked after me during my short stay . Each one was most professional, caring , courteous and very pleasant .Thank you to each and every one of you.
