"Dignity and respect"

About: Queen Elizabeth University Hospital Glasgow / Elderly Medicine (Wards 51, 52, 54,55, 57, 8a & 2a)

(as a relative),

My elderly uncle who was very fragile and a falls risk was discharged home. No home visit was complete to assess his risk at home.

He was also sent home wearing 2 hospital gowns and socks despite having clean clothes in his hospital bag. His shoes and glasses were not sent home with him.

I am disheartened at the poor care he has received particulalry as an employee of the NHS were a core value is dignity and respect. I feel there was no concern for my poor elderly uncle's dignity.

Dear LauraB

Thank you for getting in touch via Care Opinion.

I am very sorry to read about your Uncle’s experience when being discharged from hospital and that you have been left feeling disheartened and disappointed.

You have raised a number of concerns that we would like to look into further and would welcome for the opportunity to discuss these concerns with you. Would you be able to contact my colleague Laura Wilson on: 0141 452 3700?

Please pass on our apologies to your Uncle.

Kind Regards

Nicole
