When I was introduced to One Recovery in March 2020 I joined the Recovery Support group which was well run and gave people the opportunity to speak or listen to others about tactics and ideas in recovering from addiction.
I then moved to the Peer Support Group. I stayed with this group for many months, sharing ideas and listening to others in a similar situation, the vast majority of whom were no longer dependant on alcohol/drugs. We all got to know each other, talking very openly and helping each other through difficult or challenging times.
I was discharged from One Recovery in May 2021. I discovered I could no longer attend groups.
This was a great shame as we supported each other beyond addiction as it had impacted our lives with relationships, family/friends and work. The journey continues beyond addiction.
I would like to thank my key workers, Marios and Lauren who were so supportive and full of encouragement and praise, something that alot of us had not heard or accepted for a long time.
There is a good life beyond addiction and I am grateful to all those who helped me with my journey and hope I was able to offer as much to the group as I took from it.
