"Unfit for purpose"

About: Forest Court Nursing Home

My unfortunate parent was discharged from hospital to Forest Court for 'reablement', in order for them to be able to return home safely. Whilst the social services reablement team made suitable endeavours on their visits they were not supported adequately by the staff at Forest Court. As a result, my parent was frequently left either in bed or in a chair for many hours (sometimes all day) and no discernible reablement took place. More has been achieved in 3 days at home than in 7 weeks at Forest Court. Failing to facilitate transfers for basic bodily functions is tantamount to neglect.

Medical queries were ignored or not followed up. Communications were atrocious - it could take literally all day to get through on the phone, and sometimes not at all.

I hope nobody else is subjected to such treatment as it really is the worst of social care. I appreciate that the last year has been challenging but attitude and common decency should not be casualties of Covid.

I am uncomfortable writing such a review but it is important that improvements are made as a matter of urgency.
