About: University Hospital Lewisham / Trauma and orthopaedics

(as the patient),

I attended Lewisham Hospital UCC with a broken wrist. After a CT scan on the following Monday I was telephoned the following Wednesday to be told I would require surgery on the upcoming Saturday. I was not told anything about what kind of surgery I was to have, how long it would take and so on. I was informed I would be telephoned on the Friday before to be given the details. I received no telephone call. After numerous attempts to find out about my surgery scheduled supposedly for the following day no one could give me any information. I was told I would be phoned by 5pm - by 5. 30pm nothing. I was then told to wait until 6. 30pm - again nothing. No one could help me. I just kept getting palmed off to call back later. I am appalled at the service I have experienced. How can a hospital not give you any information about surgery, where you are meant to go and at what time.

Thank you for providing much needed feedback.

We take feedback very seriously and are disappointed that you haven’t experienced great patient experience. Therefore, we would welcome you contacting our Patient Advice & Liaison Service (PALS), on 020 8333 3355 or via email on pals.lewisham@nhs.net , they will then be able to take this up with the department on your behalf.

Kind regards
