"Empathetic, kind and proactive"

About: Royal Alexandra Hospital / Older adults mental health

(as a relative),

My mum has a severe dementia and her condition has worsened over the lockdown period resulting in her having no review for over a year.

I called Beverly the secretary for the Older Persons Services based at RAH and she truly went above and beyond to help obtain a home consultation for my mum.

Dr Gordon the consultant was fantastic ! He was empathetic , kind and pro active in making sure that my mum was to have the necessary assessments and input from OT/PT and helped my Dad to accept some assistance with my mums personal care needs.

This was the first time, we as a family have met Dr Gordon and i am delighted that  my parents have such a wonderful team caring for them both throughout their journey.

Dear Debcam23

Thank you for your sharing your story on Care Opinion.

Dr Gordon and Beverley are grateful for the positive feedback, and hope that all people they come into contact with have the same experience. The Older People's Community Mental Health Service (OPCMHS) in Renfrewshire strives to provide the highest level of care to people that they are working with, and although the pandemic has had an impact on delivery of services across the NHS, it is very rewarding to hear that when people are in contact with the service they are receiving a very positive experience. Indeed, Beverley has been named previously in a story from care opinion, which displays that caring values are held and delivered throughout the team, and are delivered in a consistent basis.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for your positive feedback as this is really important for staff to hear and receive. Feedback like this provides a boost to morale, especially during times where the NHS has faced probably one of its most challenging times.

Thank you

Iain McGoldrick
