We were extremely lucky and privileged that both of our girls were born at Peterhead Community Midwife Unit. Both born in the Moonlight Suite and both waterbirths. The care, attention and experience of the midwives there really is the best. All staff are so ‘couthy’ – friendly, enthusiastic and take a genuine interest in you and your family.
During both pregnancy’s I was determined to have our babies in Peterhead CMU. Having one to one care during labour, access to a birthing pool and labouring in a room with dimmed lighting was really important to me. Feeling in control, being in the Moonlight Suite and receiving the fantastic care of the staff there kept me calm and relaxed, enabling me to have the positive labour experience, both times, that I had hoped for.
With our second baby, I was ‘overdue’ and was being offered an induction. Because I knew the baby was safe and well following a 41 week scan, and I was keeping well too, I decided to put the induction off and give baby and my body a chance to go in to labour spontaneously. Luckily, I did on day 10. I am so glad I trusted my instincts and my body.
I can’t speak highly enough of the staff and facilities at Peterhead CMU – it really is first class. I couldn’t have wished for a better experience bringing our babies in to the world.
