"CBT - coping with emotions"

About: Community Partnerships Service

(as a service user),

Joined course due to struggling with lockdown and shielding. Wasn’t convinced cbt works but feel stronger than I did before Lockdown. Glad the people where very similar to me, people who normally focus on work, families and during lockdown lots parts of their identity and then began to notice that their emotions needed support. Made it easy they everyone had a similar experience so could all connect. This supported each other to know we were ok and not alone.

On reflection I wonder if looking at high alert emotions first rather than the low intensity emotions and building but in practice would that work as well? I don’t know. Only doing it would tell I guess.

Thank you so much for for getting in touch and letting us know your thoughts. It is great to hear that despite previously feeling apprehensive about CBT you seem to have found the course useful and it has helped you to feel in a better place than you were prior to the pandemic. Looking at high intensity emotions first could be a good idea, thank you for the suggestion! We will certainly consider this for future courses.
