I fell pregnant in 2020, we had just come out of the first lockdown and everything was different! This was my 2nd pregnancy so although I knew what to expect I was still a bit nervous about the changes to everything because of Covid! When I rang the maternity unit I asked if it was possible to have the same midwife from my first pregnancy in 2018. This was not a problem at all and immediately put me at ease knowing I’d be speaking to someone I had already had a relationship with and was comfortable with. My first appointment was over video and was great being able to sit in the comfort of my own home while chatting away. Elaine Mac was just as I remembered, calming and informative, she put me at ease and I came off the call excited about our pregnancy. Throughout my pregnancy most of my appointments were at home with the exception of the scans. The care I received throughout my pregnancy was excellent and I couldn’t recommend the Oban midwives highly enough. The night I went into labour I was lucky enough to have my named midwife on call, Elaine kept me calm and helped me make informed decisions on what was best for me and my baby. Unfortunately I didn’t get to give birth locally but I went to Paisley RAH knowing it was the best decision for us. Once we were home I had visits from various different midwives, I felt supported with help with breast feeding and constantly reassured I was doing a great job. I genuinely felt sad the day I was discharged. Thank you for looking after me and my son so well: )
