"Waste of time!"

About: Caritas General Practice Partnership

For months my wife has been suffering with pain in her arm which gets worse but because of Covid can't see a GP so she decided to call our surgery and she was given a telephone appointment.

Appointment was set for 2.40pm and my wife had to rearrange her breaks at work to wait for the phone call as she is working in a laboratory at MRI hospital and she can't keep her phone with herself. The phone rang at 2.15 so of course she missed it and when she called back even it was still 20minutes before her due appointment she was told the GP is gone. I have to say it's not the first time she was treated same way as exactly same thing happened a few months back with her previous appointment when she got pregnant and needed some advice- of corse she couldn't answer the phone as GP rings whenever he wants not when is the time of the appointment. They just waist people's time and completely don't understand that some of us are working and can't hold the phone all day waiting for a phone call. How we are supposed to get help when we need it if we can't even get hold of our GP over the phone? We will have to go private I think as this is just ridiculous- and for some strange reason a private GP has no problem with seeing a patient and is not scared of treating patients face to face.

We will be looking for a different GP where they keep appointment time and treat people seriously.

Dear Peter - I am so sorry for the delay in responding to your review, I didn't receive notification that a review had been posted. I can see that you are not happy with the service you and your wife have received from us. However, I would just like to point out that we have been seeing patients face to face, where appropriate, throughout the pandemic. I appreciate that there was some confusion around the appointment time. We now have a new appointment system, whereby we are offering more timed appointments both via the telephone and face to face.

If you wish to discuss this further, please do not hesitate to contact me either by telephone or email - gill.eggleston@nhs.net
