"Impossible to get an appointment"

The new web based appointment system seems designed to stop you seeing a GP! The interface is user unfriendly and far too many convoluted and non-specific questions end up with you clicking out. I finally resorted to calling the 'call handler' who called back hours later. I was told I would be sent a text. Text finally arrived 4 days later saying a 'clinician' would review my details in 2 weeks time. Then immediately after this I received a text saying my 'case had been resolved and closed'. Great job. On top of that, the request for a routine smear test that I was able to ask for on line has never come through. I was going to visit the practice in person to sort this out, but have decided to switch practices instead. Far easier. Sadly, it feels like they are trying to run it like a US privatised system but without the sophistication and customer service of a genuine private service. It shouldn't be this way. A simple call to a practice and talk to a receptionist to book an appointment is how it used to work and there was never a problem.

Really sorry to hear that you have left the Practice and about your experiences with our online system. It certainly is a significant change to how patients choose to access our services. We acknowledge that online isn't for everyone so we have maintained our full contact centre operations to assist those who prefer telephone contact. We do review all feedback received to ensure we are meeting the needs of all our patients so we do appreciate you feeding back.

Unfortunately I am unable to investigate the text message you received or the failure to respond regarding the smear without your full details. If you would like us to look into this further for you please do contact the Practice again.
