"Immediate Care Given"

About: Poole Hospital

Having recently attended the A&E department whilst suffering an asthma attack, the care given could not have been any better - A nurse swiftly had me on a wheelchair without me even waiting to register at reception (in fairness, I could hardly breath) and within minutes a doctor had seen me and I was on oxygen. Following this, further nurses and doctors attended to me both in A&E and the ward I was subsequently admitted to (Acute Medical), as well as a pharmacist and a specific asthma nurse who massively increased my understanding of asthma and how to manage it going forward. I can’t possibly remember everyone who provided care to me (at least 5 doctors and 8 nurses throughout my 36 hour stay), but all were fantastic and I couldn’t have asked for anything more. Thank you all so much, you truly are NHS hero’s.

Dear Anonymous

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience and apologies for the delay in reply; I have just picked up responding to comments following the retirement of a colleague.

We are pleased you found the service in the Emergency Department to be both prompt and caring.

Sorry to hear you needed a 3 day stay in hospital to get your asthma under control, it must has been a worrying time for you and we hope you now feel much better.

It is good to know that you had the care and attention of so many doctors and nurses in ED and AMU.

We will forward your kind comments to the Matrons of these areas to share with the rest of their teams.

Regards

Patient Experience Team
