"Very bad experience "

About: Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust - Queen's Medical Centre Campus

I visited the A&E Department at QMC 20th April 2021 for severe back pain. I checked in at the Reception and was served by a member of staff who I felt didn't want to be there, he was constantly having to be corrected and didn't ask the relevant questions about any current medical conditions (I'm type 1 diabetic) I was then sat in A&E for 4 hours before going in to see the GP, the GP was mortified that I was left there for 4 hours, wasn't triaged or offered any painkillers. The GP also found that my heart rate had sky rocketed to 130+ I was then finally moved across to have my vitals checked before I was taken into a first contact ward to be monitored for both my severe back pain and racing heart rate.

Given the opportunity I wouldn't visit QMC again but unfortunately there is no other A&E Department available.

Thank you for sharing your experience. Reading this feedback, about seeing a GP, it would seem that you attended the NEMS Urgent Treatment Unit, which adjoins our Emergency Department, but is not managed by our Trust. So we can be certain, we would like you to get in touch with us by emailing QMCPET@nuh.nhs.uk so we can look into where you were treated and ensure your feedback is shared with the correct people.

With kind regards

Andrew Steggles
