"Everyone was supportive and helpful"

About: Royal Hospital for Children (Glasgow) / Day surgery

(as a parent/guardian),

From the point at which we were arrived at the hospital we were well treated. Everything was very organised and COVID safe.

My daughter has had several operations so knows what to expect which has its advantages and disadvantages! She's 12 years old and flitting between being a grown up and a child. Everyone we dealt with nurses, doctors, consultants & support staff all pitched their interactions with her perfectly treating her like a grown up but knowing when she needed them to be more supportive. This put her at ease making the experience as good as it could be for both of us.
Afterwards everyone on the ward was supportive and helpful. Although the ward was busy nothing was  a problem. Having tea and coffee brought round on the ward was great. As only one parent is allowed on the ward it meant I didn't need to leave my daughter to get a drink.

Dear PitPony,

Thank you so very much for your kind feedback regarding you and your daughters recent Day Surgery experience, especially as you have visited before - you have been able to witness first hand some of the changes implemented to ensure all our children, young people, their family and our staff are safe.

I was particularly pleased to note that our team members interacted with your daughter in an age appropriate way, enabling her to be actively involved in the care she was receiving.

I can share that our Senior Management team have already passed on your feedback to our colleagues involved in your daughter's care, along with their own personal thanks.

We really do very much appreciate you taking the time to send your comments to us. Finally, can I please pass on our own thanks to you and your daughter for trusting us with her care, and we sincerely hope she is recovering well at home.

Sending best wishes

Take care

Coral
