I requested my second covid jab being brought forward as my cataract operation falls exactly on the 77 day between jabs on 7 May. At my pre-op I was advised to ask if I could have the jab earlier as you have to wait 7 days or so before you can have the procedure. I rang the surgery on 14 April to be told someone would ring me back, they didn't so I rang again on 16 April to be told to ring next week. I rang on 19 April to be more or less told my request was not important enough and the person designated to ring me was too busy and didn't I realise there was a world pandemic going on. I was totally disgusted at being so patronised by a receptionist and told her so. I have had to wait over a year for this procedure and it's been cancelled 3 times due to covid. I thought GPs were supposed to facilitate routine surgery backlogs. I am not requesting special treatment just my second jab being brought forward to enhance my resilience to covid whilst I hospital and I doing so give me confidence. I am so disgusted I have emailed my MP to look into the matter in general as I am sure other patients are in the same position.
