My 13 year old daughter suffers from anxiety and panic and is listed to have oral surgery under general anaesthetic. For most children this would be worrying, however for one with anxiety it evokes sheer terror. Viv conducted the pre-op assessment and took the time to listen to my daughter's many fears and concerns showing enormous care and compassion along with great understanding of how anxiety may impact on the care required. She gave practical tips and advice on how to prepare for the surgery along with clear and appropriate information around what to expect before, during and after the procedure. . Viv also went out of her way to ensure the team caring for my daughter are fully briefed about her anxiety so that they can adapt her care accordingly. This was a perfect example of how pre-op assessments should be done - thank you Viv for your reassurance and kindness. .
