"COVID Vaccinations"

In January we had booked both COVID vaccination appointments at Sheffield Arena, a good 40 minute drive from Bakewell.

Our second appointments were due within days when my phone rang and the caller from Newholme hospital asked if we would like to have our second vaccination straightaway at Newholme.

We were there within five minutes and duly had our second jab.

The staff explained to us that they should have finished work at 1.00pm but had stayed on to try to contact local residents in order to avoid wasting precious vaccine which cannot be returned to a fridge once it has been taken out. It was now 2.30pm and the staff had called us and waited for us well beyond the time they should have worked.

We cannot praise them highly enough for their dedication, courteous and friendly attitude when they were clearly very tired.

Not only did their selfless attitude avoid vaccine going to waste but it saved us a journey from Bakewell to Sheffield arena.

We would be grateful if you would pass on our sincere thanks to the staff who stayed on well beyond the call of duty.
