My 17 year old son had a bicycle accident late one evening. By 10pm we were in A&E.
both of us a bit concerned and apprehensive. We were greeted at the door by a very friendly nurse who made sure we were Covid safe. The lady that booked him in was very polite and welcoming. After his Triage, things got a bit scary as a nurse came for him with a wheelchair and took us into Resus. There was a dr already waiting for us.
At this point I began to worry that things were worse than I thought. Given that my 17 year old is still technically a child, they still made sure he was the only they were giving all the information to and treating him like the adult (he thinks he is), whilst knowing he was getting very scared and upset. They had it just right... keeping me very well informed as well, They explained he needed to go for a CT scan and what it entailed. The nurse looking after him, as well as the Dr I can’t speak more highly of. They were so attentive, friendly, funny and really put us both at ease. It seemed to me like the Dr has come to the end of a very long shift, but he stayed on to check my sons CT results and only went home, once he knew he was okay.
I cannot thank these guys enough. We were very lucky, but we were in very safe hands. I feel so fortunate to have such an amazing hospital local to me.
