"Minor injuries"

About: University Hospital Monklands / Emergency Department

(as a relative),

My 23 year old daughter just attended minor injuries at Monkland with a complaint of hip pain. It sounds like she was seen by an Auxiliary nurse who told her, x rays arent good for you and there is no signs of trauma. She was basically told there was nothing they could do or she could wait 4 hours but they still wouldn’t be able to help her.   An examination by a Nurse practitioner or Doctor might have been helpful. So disappointed in this lack of care. At no time was she asked about the type of pain or the history.

Dear JLP1

Thank you for sharing your daughter's experience of attending the Minor Injuries Unit at University Hospital Monklands. I was disappointed to read that you felt your daughter did not receive the appropriate care and treatment during her attendance.

The Senior Nurse, for Emergency Care, has intimated that she would be happy to look into the care provided to your daughter. If your daughter would like your concerns to be looked into and an explanation provided to her, can you please ask her to contact the Patient Affairs Department on 01236 713065 or by emailing PatientAffairs.Monklands@lanarkshire.scot.nhs.uk, quoting care opinioin 838413.

Thank you.

Lesley
