"Ultrasound experience"

About: Omagh Primary Care Complex

(as the patient),

I went in for a pelvic and abdomen ultrasound. It was an early appointment so I woke early to ensure I had the 2 pints of water drank an hour before my appointment. I had my abdomen ultrasound and all went smoothly. However when it was time for my pelvic ultrasound I was asked did I drink the required amount of water. I replied yes but I was instructed to go drink more water and wait an hour. I felt very upset as I repeated that I did drink the water, but I was continually made to feel like I wasn't telling the truth. It was very infuriating and I felt completely helpless. I did not mind drinking more water, however to be disbelieved when I had done exactly what was instructed was extremely upsetting.

Dear millimetermc97, thank you for your feedback about your recent experience. I am sorry to hear that you were upset when you attended for your scan. Staff always want to provide the best service they can for their patients. It is very important for this particular examination that you have a full bladder and that means drinking a lot of water, more than you might expect. I have passed on your concerns to staff and if you would like to discuss further you can contact the department in whichever way is easiest for you.
