I recently attended after my local eye unit told me that although it was urgent they were too busy. I was at this unit for nearly 9 hours before I was seen which caused me some stress and physical discomfort. There were no updates during this time but the staff were clearly under pressure with the sheer numbers. They worked non stop and were polite throughout although some patients became irate . The staff did an excellent job but were just overwhelmed. People were having a go at the staff because there wasn't anybody else. The staff deserved better and I hope management will take whatever action is needed to support their staff before some of them break. As for treatment, I think I finally got a good service but the lack of updates and the sheer waiting time needs to be improved which should not be down to the nursing staff
"Great staff under too much pressure"
