Today I went to the gynaecology out patient clinic after the results from my regular smear test came back as HPV Positive- Severe . My appointment was at 10.40
on my arrive I was greeted by staff in a very friendly way ,we filled in a quick form and then I was taken to speak to the consultant he explained why I was there and what would happen with the procedure to remove the abnormal cells during the Colposcopy. From there I was taken into the room where my procedure was to be performed . I was meet by two lovely/ friendly nurses who again talked me though what was going to happen this made me feel very much at ease . The consultant came in and performed the procedure he told me what was going to happen ever step of the way , this did not hurt at all. It was quick and I was walking out of the hospital at 10.25 . I was told that a sample would be sent to be analysed and I would receive my results in about 10 days. I understand that some woman can be a little reluctant to have a smear, but I would say 100% go it could save your life and it only takes a few minutes for smear and if like myself you received a positive result less than an hour to sort . Obviously I need to get the diagnosis from my samples so fingers crossed .
