"We recently moved mum into our house"

About: Community Therapy Services / Nottingham West Community Therapy

(as a carer),

We had recently moved mum into our house with us but she was struggling to get into the bath & becoming increasingly frail.

I mentioned it to our GP who suggested community occupational therapy- we were contacted within a couple of weeks. Kate arrived & watched how mum was currently managing the bath. She suggested a couple of items to help & these were both promptly delivered by the Red Cross. Kate called back a few days later to see which was the best option. We decided together that a step & fitted handle would be the best & safest options for mum & these were fitted within the week. Mum was soon able to have a soak in her own bubble bath!

Oh what a good news story! I am thrilled to hear that your mum can now have a soak in the bath, it makes such a difference! Occupational Therapists strive to enable patients to meet functional goals that are important to them … whatever they may be. Glad we could help.

Our staff recognise the importance of individualised care and aim to promote independence at home. How lovely you have taken time to provide us with feedback and thank you for your kind words about Kate, I will be sure to pass them onto her.

Please accept my best wishes for your mum's future health and I hope she continues to enjoy her bath. Please do let us know if there is anything more we can support you with. You can come straight back to us, no need to go via the GP. Kate will have given you a contact number.
