"Getting my stoma cleaned up"

About: Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust - Queen's Medical Centre Campus / Colorectal surgery

(as a service user),

Over the last few years I have had a hard time with getting a stoma and getting it right.

Just before the first lockdown I had to go and get my stoma cleaned up. The first few operations I had a really bad time of it getting infections and wound opening up and taking a long time to heal but this time I was in and out in a day and back to work by the end of the week.

I still have problems with my stoma but I am not so nervous about going in next time.

Thank you for this feedback. I’m sorry to hear that it took a long time for your wound to heal, but I am glad that things are now improving for you, and that your most recent appointment was a much better experience and has helped you feel more confident about future treatment.

With best wishes
