"Felt dismissed by psychiatry"

About: Lanarkshire Community Services / Adult Mental Health Services

(as the patient),

I had a video call appointment with a staff member from general psychiatry Lanarkshire, I felt that this person totally dismissed everything I said, suggested it was just my hormones about the problems I'm having and that I have obsessive compulsive traits but I have to help my self to stop that. When I said that I can't, and I will have to struggle everyday, I was prescribed anti-depressants which they said only work 25 percent, never said what they were for considering it was apparently just down to my "hormones".

As a woman I feel like I have not been taken seriously and offered CBT but I said I have had this in the past and it hasn't helped, but they still didn't listen, so then said try self help links like every other person has told me to, I have tried them they do not work, one appointment isn't enough either for less than 50 mins to speak to someone and they just seemed desperate to get off the call. I'm sorry but this didn't help at all and was hardly professional.

Hi Kokopops1,

I'm sorry to hear that you felt you weren't listened to by psychiatry and that your appointment wasn't helpful. Could you give me call on 01698 723188 in order that I find the relevant person to speak to you regarding this.

thanks

Michael
