On Tuesday we were advised by our community midwife to take our 2 day old son to the ED as his jaundice levels were high. While there, staff discovered that his sodium levels were low. He was admitted for a few days while staff got to the bottom of his issues. We were on both the Allen Ward and Belvoir Ward during that time.
The staff were fantastic with us. Dr Creighton in the ED was wonderful. She was extremely calm, thorough and patient when, as new parents, we were extremely emotional. The staff in Allen and Belvoir wards were so attentive in their care, following up with every test and procedure imaginable until satisfied that things were improving. They tested for metabolic and genetic conditions that could account for his difficulties and gave us great peace of mind. Everything that they could do, they did do!!!!
Special thanks to Donna on the Belvoir Ward, for taking the time to show me how to use the Breast pump properly so I could express milk for him. I’m sorry I don’t know her surname, but she had blonde hair.
We left hospital with a healthy child ready to start life as a new family. Thank you for everything you did. You were all amazing!!!!
