"Aspen Ward"

About: University Hospital Lewisham / Older people's healthcare

(as a relative),

My elderly mother (85) who has Dementia and is visually impaired (nearly blind) was taken into A&E yesterday. She has not been in hospital since the 70's and in relatively in good health until this episode. I received regular updates from A&E but when she was moved to the ward NOTHING  I have been calling for over a hour and half.

I understand they are busy and that is not excuse, everyone is busy!! Its bad enough not being able to see my mum but not to get updates is appalling. Maybe it would be wise to implement a messaging system where the ward update 1 member of the family during the course of the day, if they are unable to use the phone.

Just 1 update, that's all we ask for.
