I gave birth to my second child at the midwife led unit at Victoria Hospital in Kirkcaldy. This was the second time I had given birth at the unit. I cannot praise the staff and the midwives in particular enough and that goes for both births. My second caught us all off guard - she was born at 39 weeks in March and almost born in the car park! My husband had to run to the hospital and get help and 5/6 midwives came out with a bed and got me safely to the delivery room before my daughter was born. I owe them a huge thank you but given everything happened so fast, unfortunately I have no idea of their names. That would have been the day shift team.
I would especially like to thank the three midwives who helped deliver - Veronica, Sarah and Rebecca. Rebecca in particular supported me through the second stage and as I result I didn’t tear. I had an episiotomy in my first birth so this for me was a massive achievement!
The care I received from start to finish was first class. Through the night I learned I was the only one on the ward at that time and I was looked after by Robyn and Louise (who had looked after me after my first birth) who couldn’t do enough to help. I owe the midwives everything - thanks to them, both my children were brought into the world safely a couple of years apart, and there aren’t enough words to thank them for that.
