"'Home Birth' 25/5/2020 "

About: Northwick Park Hospital

To Northwick Park Hospital,

On behalf of me and my wife, I would like to say a massive thank you to the Ambulance team who attended to us on the 25th May 2020 when my wife gave birth to my son at 25 weeks of gestation of pregnancy.

We had called 999 as soon as my wife started experiencing stomach pains at home. The ambulance service arrived very quickly, however by this time my wife had already given birth to my son at 7am in the morning. One ambulance team straight away attended to my son, whilst the other team took care of my wife. I can genuinely say with my hand on my heart that they saved my son’s life. They truly are angels to our family.

As a man, it was very difficult to understand what to do in this situation. I felt extremely helpless. The ambulance crew helped and guided me and kept reassuring me as they attended to my wife and my newborn son.

In these strange times whilst we are living in this Pandemic, I was lucky enough to be allowed to stay with my wife to support her and see my son every hour until he was transferred to the Queen Charlotte Hospital the same day in the afternoon. The Hospital Staff handled everything very efficiently.

I am immensely grateful to the Staff at the Neonatal team at Northwick Park Hospital and the Ambulance Crew that attended to us on that day. They were all very attentive and caring in looking after my son and in keeping me and my wife updated on every step.

My son will soon be celebrating his 1st birthday. We would not be in celebrating this milestone if not for all the staff that had a hand in saving his life. I will forever be indebted to them all.
