About: Denton Village Surgery

I recently changed my GP practice from Denton Village Surgery and previously would have rated the surgery quite highly. A surgery should not be rated on its prescription service alone which I read most reviews here feature. For me its about patient respect and management. If I had to fault Denton Village Surgery in the past I would highlight sometimes poor patient interface as one or two receptionists and office staff are not particularly patient focused, most do not even smile and a patient is often an inconvenience. But at GP level all is well and one is treated there very well indeed. My change to another practice has seen a revelation in my healthcare at primary care level. My call to C19 vaccine was perfectly managed by a large friendly practice where every single team member was very patient focused and I was treated with utmost respect. A dalliance with a wound infection realized the best of personal care from the two GP's I encountered with a diagnostic consultation so well carried out on the telephone, followed by excellent prescription management and two check up calls post treatment - highly impressive and very caring in style. So I am delighted with my current care, However the reason I have left this review for Denton Village Surgery is that now, thanks to the GP review process at my new surgery, I have been classed as clinically extremely vulnerable individual for C19 and as such need to take additional steps to safeguard myself. Now, I was and have been clinically extremely vulnerable individual for the whole of 2020 when I was a patient at Denton Village Surgery and of course, during the pandemic, yet at no time did I receive even one communication in regard to my clinical status nor my management from that surgery. I had always had the feeling that deeper dive patient management was not an option at Denton Village surgery. From my own now better experiences, my impressions are born out. A word of advice to this surgery is to change the culture within the clerical, patient health record mining and management and modernize to make the process way more efficient. As far as a welcome at reception is concerned then a smile is the perfect way to greet a patient.

Thank you for taking the time to review our practice. We value all patient feedback and were sorry to hear that your experience with us did not meet your expectations. If you can send details of your concerns to denton.enquiries@nhs.net I would be happy to look into this further for you and feedback. I am particularly keen to explore the issues around your Clinically Extremely Vulnerable status whilst with us, this may help us understand if there has been an oversight and any subsequent learning from this. Thank you - Practice Manager
