I am a healthcare professional and went to get my second jab at Royal.
The staff member who actually gave me my injection had greeted me as I entered the room and was warm and professional. (the same person had given me my first jab in January and had been supportive about my slight needle phobia. Got it all done fast but without me feeling rushed. )
But I was angered last week by what I perceived as the indifference and rudeness of the staff member who opened the door as I arrived at the learning centre for my appt, moving towards me very slowly (as if very bored or annoyed by my presence) and without making any eye contact or smiling or offering any words except "follow me". I was handed a form, again without any eye contact. The feeling was of a bit of "attitude" and of her hardly caring, bothering or engaging.
I am staff myself but on this day, I was a patient. I don't treat my own patients with indifference like this. It made me feel quite angry. It felt actually pretty rude. In shops, I just leave if I'm treated that way.
I understand vaccinating may be long, routine work but the nurse actually doing the vaccinating had shown professional concern, interest and care.
This might seem a fairly trivial complaint - nobody for example spoke rudely to me - but it bothered me as it was totally unnecessary to deal with me or any other patient like this. It left me angry and preoccupied. Eye contact is an absolute basic when greeting a patient and a smile is welcome too: we are not cattle in a market being moved from point A to point B.
