"Labour - Delivery -Everything was perfect"

About: Maternity care (Wards 47, 48 & 50) / Maternity care (Ward 48)

(as a service user),

Rachel took over my case at 7:30/8am yesterday and Kimberley  (student midwife) also took part during my labour. I was asked if this was ok and I was happy with 2 midwifes throughout my experience as this was a bonus. The more hands the better! I was lucky to have 2 as they were both amazing throughout my delivery and being a first time mum I was given a great relaxing atmosphere from the beginning that I was in good hands. First impression of them were amazing and they both communicated everything to me clearly.

Rachel was very professional, calm and supportive throughout delivery. She gave me confidence and was reassuring in every step. She made sure I got all the pain medication and would right away rectify anything to make sure I was comfortable. She kept a close eye on my health and was keeping my birth partner upto date with each step so I had the best network around me. During stressful times Rachel remained calm and was boosting my confidence to make sure I got the best results. Rachel and Kimberley made a fantastic team and were both very fast and professional throughout delivery. I also noticed that they would followed all protocols such as new gloves and apron every time they entered or left the room. They would arrange a smooth handover when going for breaks so I was not left on my own.

It is very satisfying and reassuring to see staff being professional at all times and when needed they would not hesitate to make my experience easier. Rachel felt she had to be the bad cop but really she was an angel in disguise that kept me right and motivated. If I ever had to return to labour ward I would be over the moon to have Rachel as my midwife as she was brilliant. I would recommend Rachel and all the staff (ward 48) but I will personally always mention Rachel to my friends/family and will pray that she is there for me again in the future. I don’t see how the service could be improved as everything was perfect even during Covid time. I wish her all the best in her career and thank her for everything she has done. Keep up the good work.
