(as a relative),

I have called NHS24 several times in the last number of months seeking urgent help for my wife who suffers with serious mental health struggles.

We live in the Tayside region and specifically Angus which is poor to say the least in their community care of mental health patients. We are consistently let down by them and never seem to be able to move forward with care improvement.

Whenever I have called NHS24 and without exception I have been lifted by the professional, empathetic, efficient and effective service from their mental health hub. I mean exceptional and decisive support from the nurses at a level never experienced in the local mental health service. They not only have provided the ongoing arrangements of help for my wife but have been extremely supportive of myself and offer great advice and encouragement at the most challenging of moments.

This is in absolute stark contrast to the abilities and application of the services in place in the community. If the local service was as competent and capable as the NHS24 hub we would all be in a far better place.

Thank you to you all in that service. I have no doubt I will need to use your service again and I will be hugely relieved in doing so knowing I will achieve the outcome I need.

I understand you have already shared your experience directly with us here at NHS 24, so thanks for already being in touch with us. It was great to see your feedback for our Mental Health Hub and I can confirm that I have shared this with the Team and also with senior staff. They have responded to say how delighted they were to see such heartfelt feedback for their service.

I am sorry to learn of the challenges you have experienced in seeking support in the wider community setting. I see a number of areas are tagged to your story and I am sure they will wish to know more of your experience.

One area of your story which I found quite profound, is your acknowledgement of the support offered by our Mental Health Team to you personally by providing encouragement and support to assist you in managing a challenging situation. This is fantastic to see and please continue to seek their input when needed. Such feedback is invaluable in ensuring staff are reminded of the excellent service they are providing, not only to patients but to the people who provide support to others.
