"Ultimate professionals! "

On 10th Feb at about 10.30 while walking on the towpath of the Birmingham - Fazeley canal near Bodymoor Heath, I slipped on a patch of ice and broke my neck of femur. I was attended by two crew from your service. The location was quite inaccessible and they had to drive across a camp site and down a farm track to reach me. Getting me from the path to the ambulance was also very tricky. Although I was I a complete state of shock, I won't ever forget how strong, resourceful, competent and reassuring they were. Their professionalism and humanity were amazing. I got sick all over them and they took it in their stride! They took me to Good Hope then onto QE. Emergency surgery and an 8 day stay in hospital followed. 6 weeks later and I am back on my feet with the help of crutches and making good progress towards full mobility. Huge thanks to the 2 crew who helped me that day - they did tell me their names but all that gas and air and pain medication wiped that out of my head!
